The Ford government has issued colleges and universities an ultimatum, come up with free speech policies or face funding cuts.

The PC government says schools have until January 1st, 2019 to develop and implement the policies.

The Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario will be tasked with enforcing the new rule.

Ford is making good on a promise he made on the campaign trail.

Experts say it's aimed at pacifying a portion of the Tory base outraged some speakers and professors have come under fire on campuses for their conservative views.
