Fundraiser for Niagara Falls man killed in plane crash surpasses its goal

As family and friends bid farewell yesterday to three young Niagara men killed in a plane crash in rural Pennsylvania, others opened up their pocketbooks donating money to a fundraiser in honour of one of the victims.

A friend of Rifat Tawfig, started a Go Fund Me account to raise money to build a well in Tawfig's native Sudan in his honour.

As of yesterday, the fund had raised well over it's goal of $10,000.

Funeral services were held yesterday for Tawfig, as well as 18 year old Corey Mijac and 19 year old Ben Jeffries, who died when their plane crashed last week.

The U-S National Transportation Board continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
