Gillian's Place gets cash for fire safety upgrades
Gillian's Place in St.Catharines is getting provincal funding to upgrade its fire safety equipment.
The province is investing $10,400 into the St.Catharines women's shelter to help them make the upgrades.
Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Children, Community and Social Services and Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff visited Gillian's Place last month, and say they were encouraged by the wonderful service the agency offered the community.
As one of Ontario's first shelters for abused women and children, Gillian’s Place has been providing safe refuge and non-residential programs that enable women and their children to break the cycle of violence for over 40 years.
