Group speaks out about Brock plan for Rodman Hall
A local group is speaking out against a Brock University plan to move a permanent art collection out of Rodman Hall in St. Catharines.
At the beginning of this month, officials with the school said they were considering moving the collection to the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts while they deal with serious fiscal challenges with the historical building.
One option being considered is creating a new arts and culture hub downtown for community use.
The Rodman Hall Arts Alliance says the plan would 'result in the loss of the only professional art museum in St. Catharines, one of only two in Niagara.'
Brock officials say they have no plan to sell Rodmall Hall or the art collection, despite paying $750,000 a year in upkeep.
