Hamilton area senior dies from injuries in attack at nursing home
An 86 year old man beaten while he slept at a Dundas nursing home has died.
James Acker was asleep at St. Josephs Villa over two months ago, when he was brutally beaten by another resident.
He suffered head trauma and bleeding of the brain in the attack.
The provincial Ministry of Health and Long Term Care was called in to investigate and found the Villa failed to protect residents from abuse.
The nursing home was given until May 30th to comply with orders after it was citied for nine Long Term Care Act violations.
His daughter says he never recovered from the beating and his health slowly deteroriated.
