Hamilton judge no longer hearing cases

A veteran Hamilton judge who made headlines after showing up in court wearing a Trump style campaign hat is no longer hearing cases.

An Ontario Court of Justice official says Berndt Zabel is no longer being assigned to preside in court.

No reason was given for the decision nor will the court say whether it's permanent or temporary.

Several complaints have been filed against Zabel including the University of Windsor Law faculty and an Osgoode Hall Law School professor.

Zabel apologized after showing up in court wearing a Make America Great Again hat, the day after Donald Trump won the U-S election.
