Hamilton Pride organizers preparing for protesters

If a group of street preachers led by a California man show up this weekend in Hamilton to disrupt gay pride events, some local activists will be prepared.

The group of so called street preachers disrupted the second annual Haldimand Norfolk Pride festivities held in Dunnville last month and also showed up at the Barrie Pride event.

But in Hamilton, members of churches, unions and others will join Hamilton Pride organizors in a counter movement.

Pride chair Sean Cullen tells the CBC they have giant flags, banners, rainbow kazoos and even a marching band to drown out the protesters should they show up.

A Los Angeles street preacher Ruben Israel took credit for the Dunnville incident on his blog.

He says they worked with other preachers from Toronto and a host church in Hamilton that housed and fed them during the Dunville protest.
