Hamilton students go for checkers record

Students from 40 schools with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board, unofficially, broke a world record playing checkers.

More than 900 students from grades three to eight took part yesterday.

The record was orginally set in Reno, Nevada in 2014 when 540 players simultaneously played checkers.

Hamilton organizers will be applying to be recognized as officially breaking the record.

This is the 50th anniversary of the tournament.
