Heartbreaking time for St.Catharines family after Easter weekend ATV crash

A heartbreaking time for a St.Catharines mother whose son was involved in a very serious accident over the weekend.

20 year old Alexander Stark, an aspiring firefighter suffered critical injuries while riding an ATV with friends on Saturday in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Stark was rushed to Hamilton General Hospital where he remains in the Trauma Unit.

He underwent a 5-hour surgery and multiple blood transfusions on Sunday, and his condition remains critical.

Alexander's mother Jessica Stark tells CKTB she is very thankful for the support of hospital staff and the community.

The single mother is now preparing for months of caring for Alexander, including making her home wheelchair accessible since doctors believe it will be months before Alexander will be able to walk again.

Alexander is in school to become a firefighter.

Jessica is hoping that he will be able to finish this semester and that he will recover faster given his age and the fact he is physically fit.

A GoFund Me page has been sent up to help Jessica care for Alexander.
