Hike for Hospice Niagara raises $112,000
$112,000 will be going to Hospice Niagara after another successful Hike for Hospice.
The 17th annual event was held yesterday in Grantham Lions Park with more than 550 participants.
Hospice Niagara offers compassionate care for people and their families from the time of diagnosis right through bereavement.
"The need for our programs and services is greater than ever," Executive Director Carol Nagy says, "No one should feel that they are making a difficult journey alone. By being here together we are creating a compassionate movement for Niagara."
Officials say the funds are crucial to help bridge a $1.8 million gap in funding between what is provided by the provincial government, and what is actually needed to offer the services at no cost.
