Hundreds tour the 'White House of Talk' to celebrate 88 years
Hundreds of residents gathered at the 'White House of Talk' to celebrate St.Catharines' first radio station.
NewsTalk 610 CKTB opened the doors to the historic mansion at 12 Yates Street to listeners Sunday June 10 (6/10) to mark 88 years on the air.
The Mayor of St.Catharines, Walter Sendzik started the celebration by presenting on-air staff and the station with swipe cards to the city.
Sendzik says if the community didn't have 610 CKTB great stories would not be told, and the radio station brings us together.
While hundreds of listeners just wanted a look at what happens behind the microphone, some like Malcolm Morrison felt like he was taking a trip back in time.
Morrison not only worked at 610 as a journalist, but his father also worked in the building as a radio announcer.
Morrison made the drive from Toronto saying he just couldn't resist seeing the building again.
610 CKTB would like to thank everyone for making the day a success.
