IceDogs Claim Fourth Straight Win
The IceDogs did Thursday night one better in a 6-4 road win in Flint. A season best four goal second was topped by a five goal middle period Saturday night.
Dan Singer got the scoring underway at 2:02 on a glove side snap shot on a feed from Ben Jones and Johnny Corneil. Flint got the game even just after the mid-way mark of the opening twenty.
Matt Philip's 6th of the year at 5:38 featured a gorgeous Philp Tomasino pass from behind the net, Bradey Johnson also picked up a point. Akil Thomas banked in his 7th of the season at 10:25 off a Billy Constantinou point shot. Less than a minute later, Singer scored his 10th on a breakaway pass from Corneil. Fifteen seconds later Johnson netted his 6th from Constantinou and Philip. The middle period ended 6-1 on Johnson's 7th of the year, as short-handed breakaway goal on a Kyle Langdon feed. Bradey Johnson has now scored a pair of goals in each of the past three games.
In the third, the Firebirds would score two in less than a minute and add a power-play goal with less than eight minutes to go but would get no closer. The IceDogs would be out-shot in two of the three periods but a second period 18-8 edge would prove to be the difference. For the game, it was 33 IceDogs shots with Flint replying with 31.
