IceDogs Down to the Wire
Here's what's been settled as the IceDogs head into the final weekend of the 2016-2017 campaign, not much. The Dogs begin the concluding three games of the regular season in 7th place in the OHL Eastern Conference.
Ottawa is currently in 6th, two points ahead of the IceDogs. Sudbury is a point behind in 8th and North Bay trails Dave Bell's team by four. If your glass is half empty, two weekend points guarantees Niagara at least a sudden death playoff game to decide the 8th and final playoff spot. If the container is half full, the Dogs could climb into 6th place.
IceDogs' play begins with a visit from Mississauga Thursday night. The Steelheads occupy second in the east and would be the IceDogs first round opponent, if the standings remain as they are. Saturday night's matchup features a very desperate Sudbury Wolves team at the Meridian Centre and Sunday afternoon, it's a return trip to Mississauga for the 68th and final game of the regular season.
Meanwhile, Sudbury and North Bay will hook up for a home and home starting Thursday, before the Battalion travel to Kingston on Sunday. Sudbury will also have to play a make-up game in Mississauga on Tuesday. Ottawa stays home on the weekend to face the conference's first, third and fourth seeds in Peterborough, Oshawa and Hamilton. The 67's have been playing well as of late, but have one of the worst home records in the east.
Great hockey and lots o scoreboard watching begins Thursday night on 610 CKTB. Join us for the IceDogs and the Steelheads; the pre-game begins at 6:30.
