IceDogs Score 7, Move Into 7th
Akil Thomas scored a goal and added four assists, Ben Jones scored once and added three helpers and Johnny Corneil hit for two plus an assist in the IceDogs 7-1 win over visiting North Bay. With the victory the Dogs jump past Sudbury and into 7th place in the OHL Eastern Conference.
Corneil's first got the scoring underway before the game was two minutes old. Kirill Maksimov made it 2-0 on the power-play with his 19th. After the Battalion cut the deficit, Johnny Corneil's 30th restored the two goal advantage.
A late first period infraction had the IceDogs begin the middle period on the penalty-kill and Kyle Langdon extended the lead with his 12th of the season, short-handed. Another Maksimov power-play goal, his 20th and Akil Thomas' 21st at even strength made it 6-1 at the break.
In the third, Ben Jones would hit for his 13th as the home side outshot North Bay 36-34.
The final weekend of 2016-2017 will feature three games, starting with a home matchup with Mississauga, Thursday night. 610 CKTB will continue the march to the playoffs with the pre-game show at 6:30.
