IceDogs Select 5 in Inaugural U-18 Draft
The IceDogs made 5 selections Wednesday night in the first ever Under 18 Priority Selection event. While the traditional Priority Selection draft is dominated by Minor Midget hockey players, the Under-18 draft is to identify "late bloomers" from the Major Midget hockey ranks.
In round one, defenceman Abdul Abouzeeni was taken 5th overall from Windsor. In round two, Jaleel Adams, a right winger from Niagara North Stars had his named called, followed by North Stars teammate, goaltender Riley Eberhardt in the third round, Brendan Guignard a Burlington Eagles defenceman came next in round four and Mathieu Dokis-Dupuis, a centre from Sudbury Nickel City was the final Dogs selection in round five.
A total of 96 players were selected by the twenty OHL teams.
