IceDogs Successful Season Ends
The IceDogs successful 2017-2018 season came to an end in Hamilton in a 4-2 road loss Thursday night. Team Captain and 5 year Niagara forward Johnny Corneil scored the goal that started a late IceDogs comeback in the third.
Hamilton would score the only goal of the first, the only goal over the first 40 minutes.
In the third, the Bulldogs extended the lead with two goals in just over a minute. Corneil would edge Niagara closer 17 seconds later with Matt Philip gaining an assist at 11:41. With Stephen Dhillon on the bench and six forwards on the ice, Ben Jones buried a rebound with 2:16 to go. Kirill Maksimov and Sam Miletic picked up helpers. The "never say die" IceDogs gave it all they had but it was a home team empty net goal in the last minute that ended the scoring. Dhillon would stop 30 in defeat as the IceDogs would muster 32 shots on the Hamilton net.
610 CKTB 3 Stars of the Game...
The 80 points the team recorded over the 68 game 2017-2018 regular schedule will go down as one of the best point totals in IceDogs history. First year Head Coach Billy Burke picked up a nomination as Coach of the Year, while Sam Miletic was recognized in both the Most Outstanding and Top Overager categories. Last but not least, Stephen Dhillon picked up a nod for Goaltender of the Year.
610 CKTB will be there again, late in the summer, as training camp begins for the 2018-2019 OHL campaign.
