IceDogs Tame Hamilton 7-3
First star Kyle Langdon had three assists and Ben Jones chipped in with a goal and two helpers in an IceDogs 7-3 win over Hamilton. With the victory, Billy Burke's IceDogs close out 2017 on a three game win streak.
A sold out Meridian Centre crowd witnessed Akil Thomas' 10th of the year with 2:19 left in period one to give the home side the lead. Oliver Castleman and Liam Ham chipped in with assists. That advantage would last 27 seconds as Hamilton tied it up in a first period where Stephen Dhillon was outstanding kicking out 17 of 18 shots, the 'Dogs fired 8 the way of the Hamilton goal.
Niagara turned the tables in period two, out-shooting Hamilton 13-8 and scoring the only two goals. Johnny Corneil would snap home his 10th at 6:50 on a great feed from Kyle Langdon with Justin MacPherson adding a second assist. With under 28 seconds to go, Ben Jones picked up his 14th, short-handed, from Ham and Langdon.
The Bulldogs made it a one goal game in the first minute of the third before Philip Tomasino converted a breakaway pass from Langdon at 6:13. Kirill Maksimov counted his team leading 23rd at 15:41 with help from Langdon and Thomas. Hamilton's reply came 35 seconds later but Dan Singer on the power-play at 16:43 from Maksimov and Jones and Matt Philip at even strength 54 seconds later ended the scoring. With the win, Niagara takes a 6-1 lead in the Canine Cup.
