Instagram testing out hiding 'like' counts in Canada
Soon Canadians might not be able to see how many people like an Instagram post.
The company is testing 'private like counts' in Canada.
A select group of people will see the number of likes and video views disappear from their feeds as officials say they are trying to get users to focus on the quality of their posts, not just what can garner the most likes.
Users will still be able to click on a post to see who has liked it, but a total public number will not be displayed.
During the company's annual developer conference a spokesperson joked that users could go through and manually count the number of people who like a post if they have enough time.
The owner of the post will have the option of seeing the actual number.
