Job figures for Niagara set to be released this morning

Job figures for July are set to be released by Stats Canada this morning in Ottawa.

In June, the number cruncher reported a healthy gain of 31-thousand-800 jobs nationally, but it wasn't enough to keep the unemployment rate from rising from 5.8 to six per cent, as more people searched for work.

StatsCan said the June jobless rate increased from May because nearly 76-thousand more people entered the workforce.

Last month the jobless rate in Niagara remained at 6.3 per cent while provincially the rate sat at 5.9 per cent.
