Local family donates $50,000 to Community Care

A holiday surprise for Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold.

CEO Betty Lou Souter tells us, as the result of our holiday food drive broadcast, a St. Catharines family opened up their heart and their pocketbook.

Every year, the White House of Rock and Talk, home to 610 CKTB, 105.7 EZ Rock and 97.7 HTZ FM, broadcasts live in an effort to stuff a bus and bring Christmas to the thousands of local residents who are struggling to make ends meet.

After hearing Rick and Lori, EZ Rock's morning show hosts, interview Souter about the increasing demand on Community Care's services, the Community Care chief says she was approached by a local woman who said she was inspired to make a $50,000 donation.

Souter says this kind of gift from the Kaufman family doesn't happen very often and she credits our effort for helping her tell the stories of the many in our community in need.

The Great Holiday Food Drive helped raise over $280,000 in food, cash, clothing and toy donations.
