Local woman victim of terrifying road rage incident

A 65 year old Port Colborne man is facing charges in an alleged drunken road rage incident.

Police say a 23 year woman was on her way home yesterday around 6:00 pm, after leaving work in Wainfleet, when a car driven by the accused began tailgating her.

She pulled her car over to allow the other one to pass, but instead the suspect is accused of  purposely sideswiping her vehicle three times, forcing both cars into a ditch.

The victim called 911, and that's when the accused allegedly took a hammer type weapon to her windshield in an effort to get in her car.

Police say he also threatened to kill her.

When officers arrived he was still threatening harm, and then challenged police to a fight.

Police tasered the suspect and managed to arrest him.

With the help of the K9 unit , officers found the weapon he used to smash the windshield in a cornfield, a distance away.

Police have charged Walter Kirk with several counts including uttering death threats, assault with a weapon and impaired driving.
