Charges against a youth following incident at Sherkston Shores bar
An incident Saturday at Sherkston Shores in Port Colborne has resulted in charges against a youth.
Niagara Regional Police were called to the patio of a bar at Sherkston after two males were discovered sleeping in the area.
When officers attempted to wake the pair, one suddenly turned violent, lunging at the officer and attempting to grab his gun to disarm the officer.
The suspect then lunged at another officer before he was arrested.
The male has been charged with assaulting police, disarming a police officer, and assault with a weapon.
The suspect cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth and Criminal Justice Act.
The officers were not seriously hurt in the incident.
