Charges against a youth following incident at Sherkston Shores bar
An incident Saturday at Sherkston Shores in Port Colborne has resulted in charges against a youth.
Niagara Regional Police were called to the patio of a bar at Sherkston after two males were discovered sleeping in the area.
When officers attempted to wake the pair, one suddenly turned violent, lunging at the officer and attempting to grab his gun to disarm the officer.
The suspect then lunged at another officer before he was arrested.
The male has been charged with assaulting police, disarming a police officer, and assault with a weapon.
The suspect cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth and Criminal Justice Act.
The officers were not seriously hurt in the incident.
Three goals in the first 2:35 of the game propelled the IceDogs to a 5-2 exhibition win in Kitchener. Stephen Dhillon was outstanding in goal as Billy Burke's Dogs faced a large number of shorthanded situations.
Ondrej Machala scored two goals and added an assist as the IceDogs dropped a 7-5 decision to the Kitchener Rangers. The third game of the pre-season was played before a great crowd at the Fleming Centre in Beamsville.
Two first period goals in under a minute were not enough as Barrie held off the IceDogs 4-2 Thursday night. Drew Hunter and Andrew Bruder both scored their first goals in the opening twenty.
