Draw for Ontario's pot licence lottery expected today

We could find out as early as today the results of a lottery that will allow budding entrepreneurs to open the first 25 private cannabis stores in the province.

Hopefuls had between Monday and Wednesday of this week to submit an expression of interest,

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission says it will pick winners randomly today and the lucky winners will then have five  business days to apply for a license and provide a  6 thousand dollar non refundable application fee

Meantime,  several local councils will decide next week if their cities should host pot shops or not.

St Catharines councillors visit the issue Monday and Niagara Falls council will make a call on Tuesday

Municipalities have until January 22nd to decide whether to opt in or out.
