Loud boom in Welland result of NRP training exercise

If you were in the north end of Welland yesterday afternoon and heard a loud explosion, no worries it was just the police.

NRP letting us know their explosive disposal unit was holding a training exercise around 3:30 pm on the grounds of the former Welland Soccer Club on Rice and Quaker Roads.

Part of the training was the planned detonation of an explosive devise.

The explosion produced a loud concussion sound and energy wave.

Police say at no time were members of the public in any danger.
