Maloney will not run again for Mayor of Port Colborne

Mayor John Maloney will not be seeking re-election in Port Colborne.

Maloney says he's enjoyed his term as Mayor and thanks his co-workers at City Hall and at the Region.

He say he is most appreciative of the support of the residents of Port Colborne who gave him the opportunity.

He says it has been an honour to serve them and he also thanks his wife and family for standing with him during the election campaign and his term of office.

Maloney served 15 years as a Federal Member of Parliament representing the Ridings of Erie, Erie-Lincoln and Welland.

He practiced law in Port Colborne for 20 years before becoming the Member of Parliament including a period as City Solicitor.

The municipal elections will be held in October.
