Marine Unit rescues sailing students from stormy Lake Ontario
The Hamilton Police Marine Unit getting kudos for helping save two sailing students.
The rain and wind yesterday caused two sailboats to capsize on Lake Ontario just under the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge.
Thankfully the Marine unit was out on patrol and saw the boats capsize throwing the two students, aged 11 and 12, into the water
Both were wearing lifejackets.
Police quickly rescued the two and brought them aboard their boat.
The police also towed the sailboats back to LaSalle Marina.
