More allegations against beleaguered Ontario pot producer
An embattled cannabis company with a greenhouse in Pelham is facing new allegations of using black market seeds.
BNN Bloomberg reports internal documents show the cannabis seeds were used to grow pot at CannTrust facilities.
The documents also suggest employees changed the names of up to 20 different strains to conceal the seeds from regulatory inspections.
It's unknown how many of the alleged plants made it to market.
Health Canada flagged compliance issues at the company back in July, saying cannabis was illegally grown in unlicensed rooms.
Last week, we learned 180 employees were being laid off at the company's Pelham and Vaughan facilities.
