NDP MPP says delay for a new hospital in Niagara Falls unacceptable
The wait continues for a new hospital in Niagara Falls.
Niagara Health says it's now scheduled to open in 2026 or 2027.
In a news release, Niagara Health says construction of the South Niagara Hospital is expected to take approximately four years once ground is broken.
"It will be larger than the St. Catharines Site, and once construction in Niagara Falls is complete and the facility opens, currently projected for 2026, we will turn our attention to the Welland Site."
NDP MPP Wayne Gates isn't happy about the delay and calls it "unacceptable."
Gates says the premier promised shovels in the ground and people should be upset with the delay.
Niagara Health says the the revised date is more realistic.
