NDP name St. Catharines candidate
The NDP have chosen their St. Catharines candidate for the provincial election.
Merriton ward Councillor Jennie Stevens has more than 14 years of experience working with the city, residents, and elected leaders.
"Families and businesses are feeling the squeeze of higher costs and fewer services, but instead of helping, Kathleen Wynne made things worse by selling-off Hydro One and sending our hydro bills skyrocketing. That’s not what people here voted for," Stevens says via a media release.
"But it's not about going from bad to worse with Doug Ford who promised to cut $6 billion more than Wynne already has from the public services we need."
Some of the key items for Stevens include bringing year round Go Train service to Niagara. "We have a better and inspiring choice in Andrea Horwath's NDP. Only Andrea has a plan to make life more affordable by putting Hydro One back into public hands, and reducing our hydro bills by 30 per cent. She will invest in job creation, and deliver the pharmacare and dental care programs families need. And, her platform promises to deliver year-round GO rail service between Niagara and Toronto."
