Niagara bracing for a blast of rain and snow
After a few days of nice weather, Niagara residents need to brace for the return of winter-like conditions.
A Special Weather Statement has been issued for the entire region, with a system moving in Thursday afternoon.
Environment Canada's Geoff Coulson says it will start with rain Thursday afternoon at around 2pm.
10 to 20 millimetres of rain is expected to fall before the temperature drops later in the afternoon turning rain to a mix of rain and snow.
Snow expected to continue Thursday night, overnight and then end Friday morning at around 7am.
15 centimetres of snow is in the forecast.
Coulson says the entire region will get around the same amount of accumulation, however areas in Niagara's north-end may get a bit more.
The cooler system will also bring gusty winds reaching 60 kilometres an hour.
The weather may impact the drive home tomorrow afternoon and evening, and also the Friday morning commute.
CKTB will bring you updates on the system as they become available.
