Niagara Falls council approves plan to regulate vacation rental properties

Niagara Falls council chambers were packed for a four hour debate on rental properties in the city.

Although councillors eventually approved a plan to help regulate the Air BnB style rentals last night, there are some fine details that will need to be hammered out:

staff has been asked to take another look at the proposed licensing fee after concerned citizens said the initial $1,000 price tag was too high.

Under the approved plan, the rental units would only be permitted in areas of the city designated as tourist and commercial zones, including downtown.
