Niagara Falls council to consider offering civil marriages at city hall
You may soon be able to say your I Do's at Niagara Falls city hall.
Council will debate a recommendation tonight from staff to bring back the time honoured tradition.
Fifteen years ago, the province allowed municipalities to offer civil marriages but Niagara Falls opted out at the time.
Several Niagara municipalities do offer the service including Welland, St. Catharines and Thorold.
Niagara Falls staff says the demand is there so it may be time to reconsider and allow couples to tie the knot at the downtown city hall.
