Niagara Falls MPP wants provincial action on teacher lockout
The MPP for Niagara Falls urging the Wynne government to intervene in the lock out of the region's Catholic elementary teachers.
With the lock out entering its fourth day today, Wayne Gates stood in the legislature yesterday urging the Minister of Education to come to Niagara and speak with both sides in the dispute.
Gates says the lock out is dividing our community adding we must put children first.
The NDP MPP noting, the union representing teachers offered to take the dispute to binding arbitration, but the school board rejected the offer, even though it would have allowed teachers to return to class and would have meant an end to their work to rule campaign.
