Niagara Regional Police are sending out a warning after several reports of distraction thefts in the region over the last few weeks.

Police say after a customer checks out, they are approached by another person who hands over a ten or twenty dollar bill claiming the customer dropped it.

Shortly after, residents have reported missing cards from their wallet or purse.

Police officials remind everyone to protect your PIN when making purchases and to ignore suspicious people.

They urge anyone who believes they have been targeted by this kind of behaviour to contact police.
