The first case of West Nile Virus in a human has been reported in Niagara.

Public health will not say which municipality the person is from, but the confirmation comes less than a month after the virus was detected in mosquitoes.

8 cases of the virus were reported in humans last year.

Most people infected with West Nile Virus do not get sick, 20 per cent of them suffer flu-like symptoms and fatigue, 1 per cent suffer serious infections of the brain.
