Niagara's jobless rate down very slightly for April

Niagara's jobless rate is down, but very slightly.

The unemployment rate in Niagara went from 6.6 percent in March, compared to 6.5 percent last month.

Across Ontario, the highest jobless numbers for the month of April came out of Barrie where the rate was 7 percent.

Across Canada, it is the biggest one-month employment surge since 1976.

Stats Canada says the labour market added over 106, 000 jobs in April, and most of them are full-time.

The increase helped drop the unemployment rate to 5.7 per cent last month, down from 5.8 per cent in March.
