Niagara's jobless rate inches down, still above national rate
Canada's jobless rate is staying near a four decade low, but the economy lost 2,200 jobs last month.
Statistics Canada reports the unemployment rate nudged up to 5.5% in June compared to 5.4% in May.
Locally, Niagara is sitting above that with a 5.7% jobless rate. That's down from 5.8% last month.
Provincially, the rate is at 5.4%, up from 5.2%.
Canada just posted the strongest six-month stretch of job growth to start off a year since 2002.
