Niagara should be home to two cannabis stores by end of May

Niagara should be home to two cannabis stores by the end of the month.

It's been more than a month now since the first cannabis stores opened for business in Ontario.

The Niagara Herbalist opened their doors in St.Catharines on April 1st.

But some stores, like Choom in Niagara Falls missed the deadline.

Owner Lisa Bigioni tells CKTB's Matt Holmes they're waiting for construction to wrap up.

She says they budgeted the delay costs in the build, but it's a disappointment that they have to pay a penalty fee of not opening on time.

The Ontario PC government fined stores who did open during the month of April $50,000.

She's hoping to open before then end of the month.

Choom is located in Niagara Square on Montrose Road in Niagara Falls.
