No more harvesting of snapping turtles in Ontario
As of today harvesting of snapping turtles is no longer allowed in Ontario.
The announcement was made yesterday on the province's environmental registry.
Liz White of the Animal Alliance of Canada praised the move saying it protects an ''at risk'' species from human exploitation.
Barry MacKay of Born Free says it's a critically important decision as the loss of each individual has significant implications for the health of the turtle population.
