NOTL slashes proposed property tax hike
Niagara on the Lake homeowners can breathe a sigh of relief after town councillors managed to whittle down next year's proposed property tax increase.
At one point, the town was looking at an 11 percent increase, but now that hike is down to 3.5 percent.
If the 2018 budget is approved as is, residents who own a home valued at $460,000 will pay an extra 34 bucks next year on the municipal portion of their tax bill.
