NRP investigate alleged elder abuse case
Two Thorold caregivers have been charged in a case involving alleged elder abuse.
Police were called to a home yesterday to check on the welfare of a female living there who was locked in a room against her will.
Police say officers found a female in a room at the rear of the house in a ``state of unacceptable care and in an abandoned state.''
She was taken to a near by hospital for medical attention and is expected to make a full recovery.
Her name and age have not been released.
Guenther Froese and Ruth Froese were arrested and charged with Failing to Provide the Necessities of Life to a person in their care.
There are concerns there may be other victims.
The NRP say the pair ran an adult care home at 92 Pine Street North in Thorold called Hill Crest Manor.
Detectives are asking members of the public who may have had family staying with, or under the care of, the accused and co-accused to contact them at 905-688-4111 extension 4233.
