NRP officer struck by car driven by fleeing suspect

An arrest warrant has been issued for a 21 year old Toronto man, now living in St. Catharines, after he managed to elude police during a drug bust.

Police say an officer was struck by a car driven by Jerome Green as he fled his Church Street apartment yesterday afternoon, just as officers arrived at the premises armed with a search warrant.

NRP say when they got to the apartment they approached his vehicle and attempted to arrest him, that's when he allegedly drove right at police, striking the officer as well as a cruiser before managing to flee the scene.

The officer received minor injuries.

Police then entered his apartment where they arrested 29 year old Lindsay Sheppard on drug trafficking charges.

In total, officers seized $58,000 worth of cocaine and more than $18,000 in cash.
