Niagara Regional Police say they are aware of recent posts on social media regarding concerns over human trafficking rings operating within the area.
Police confirming they received a police report about an incident that took place on the weekend at the Canada One Factory Outlet Mall in Niagara Falls.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Branch identified the men involved who were shopping at the mall at the time.
After reviewing surveillance footage and conducting interviews police determined the men were not known to one another and no criminal intent was involved.
The investigation is now considered to be closed.
A second incident making the rounds on social media reported a similar human trafficking scare at The Outlet Collection in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
However, NRP confirming the incident was never reported to police.
NRP reminding the public to always be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious or concerning activity to police immediately.
