ONTARIO ELECTION | Liberals lose official party status
She may have won the battle, but the Ontario Liberals definitively lost the war.
Kathleen Wynne has been re-elected in her Don Valley West riding, but overall the Liberals only captured seven seats - one shy of the eight needed to maintain official party status.
It's a far cry from the 55 seats the Liberals held going into the election.
Last weekend Wynne admitted the party would lose the election, but urged voters to elect enough Liberals to prevent a majority government.
That did not happen; Doug Ford's PC's have a majority.
Long standing St. Catharines Liberal MPP Jim Bradley, who has been representing the riding for 41 years, was another casualty of the Liberal collapse. He lost to NDP Jennie Stevens.
Wynne has announced that she's stepping down as party leader.
