OPP constable pleads guilty to mischief in crash

An OPP constable pleaded guilty a charge of mischief endangering life after a car chase.

Yesterday the court was told that the driver Constable Lauren Cheeseman was following on December 21st, 2017 had robbed a bank in Beamsville and had been connected to a series of bank robberies in the past.

Officers in Niagara and Dunnville had already called off previous chases as the suspect was driving erratically.

While being chased, the suspect's car slammed into another vehicle turning around at a police blockade, breaking the other driver's collarbone.

Sentencing for Cheeseman is scheduled for mid-February.
