Ottawa school board debating future of student trips to U-S
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board says it's waiting for parents to decide whether planned field trips to the U-S will continue.
The board has sent a letter home to parents, asking to renew their children's interest in their specific trip.
Board chairwoman Shirley Seward says families may have a different opinion about cross-border travel since U-S President Donald Trump issued an executive order barring citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries.
Earlier this week the Greater Essex County District School Board cancelled a handful of school trips to the United States due to "safety and equity" concerns.
