Plans to spend weekend together end at the Peace Bridge
A Pittsburgh man and his Ukrainian girlfriend were caught Friday trying to sneak her into the United States.
Buffalo News is reporting that 23-year-old Yevhen Lysak of Pittsbugh and 21-year-old Viktoria Tanasiv, a permanent resident of Canada, pleaded guilty to neglecting to assist a Customs officer.
Tanasiv was fined and released to immigration authorities, while Lysak was fined and released.
Around 1:45 a.m. Friday, Lysak arrived at the Peace Bridge to enter the United States. He said he was returning to his home in Pennsylvania after visiting his girlfriend.
The officer inspected his vehicle and found Tanasiv in the trunk of the car.
Tanasiv told officers she agreed to get into his trunk so she could spend the weekend with him.
