Positive Living Niagara receives Provincial funding for permanent site
Positive Living Niagara's Consumption Treatment Service has reached a funding agreement with the province.
Executive Director of Positive Living Niagara Glen Walker made the announcement on Larry's 530 Roundtable on Tuesday.
Walker says he was notified that funding had been approved last week.
They had been operating the permanent site since April using funding they had received to support the temporary site.
Walker says they've seen an uptake in people using the service, and the people that use the harm reduction service are very active with them.
The site costs more than one million dollars a year to operate.
While on the roundtable, Walker also addressed the recent tent city issues at Centennial Gardens.
Walker says it's difficult for people to find affordable housing, and he hopes we can come up with more ways to support them.
