General Motors has surprised analysts with a substantially better-than-expected first-quarter report.
The automaker's profit shot up 34 per cent to $2.6 billion U-S on strong truck and S-U-V sales.
The earnings are a first-quarter record since G-M left bankruptcy protection in 2009.
