Provincial funds help create 45 new jobs at local wineries
The province is teaming up with Diamond Estates Wines and Spirits Limited and Andrew Peller Limited to create 45 new jobs in the Niagara Region.
Both companies are receiving support through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund:
Diamond Estates will use the money to invest in a 43,300 square foot facility expansion with new fermenters, humidity and temperature controlled storage and bottling areas. The company will also be buying wine canning equipment, making it one of the few wineries in North America offering canned still wine. Diamond Estates brands include Lakeview Cellars, 20 Bees, and Dan Aykroyd Wines.
Andrew Peller will be building a Wayne Gretzky Winery and Distillery facility. The company will also be increasing barrel and fermentation capacity at the Grimsby winery. Andrew Peller lays claim to the Trius, Hillebrand, and Wayne Gretzky brands as well as producing whisky, wine-based liqueurs, cocktails and spritzers, and personal winemaking products.
The money from the provice will also help the companies retain 133 existing positions.
